Mt Eolus

Mount Eolus (14,089') is a high mountain summit of the Needle Mountains located in the Weminuche Wilderness of San Juan National Forest, near Durango.

Mt Eolus (14,089') is a Class 3 climb, and often climbed in combination with other 14'ers in the Chicago Basin of the Weminuche Wilderness.  See Wilderness rules, permits, and restrictions.

Note: North Eolus (14,045'), is a northern sub-peak of Mount Eolus, though it is not usually counted as a separate peak or as an official fourteener, since it has a topographic prominence of only 179 ft (55 m). It is sometimes climbed in conjunction with Eolus.[9]

The Standard Route is the Northeast Ridge - 6 miles, 3100' gain - Class 3
