Summit 2026 – Huron Peak via NW slopes

From trailhead we will follow the Huron Peak trail into the forest.  Climb 800' of elevation via a series of switchbacks heading south near 11,500'.  Near 11,900' the trail swings east as we exit the trees.  Continue following the trail east across the basin and switch backing up a steep slope toward Huron's upper slopes. At 12,700' we'll reach the base of the slopes.  Zigzag to reach the crest of the north ridge at 13,500'.  From here, turn right and follow the trail onto Huron's upper northwest face.  The terrain steepens significantly becoming more rugged.  Between 13,700' and 13,900' this section is considered the crux of the route, where you may encounter trail erosion and multiple trail segments.  After regaining the ridge crest we'll turn right and continue to the summit.

Trip leaders- Do not delete: Participants can register for their preferred 14er through the Colorado Mountain Club website, where they will be placed on a waitlist for their chosen peak. From there, trip leaders will reach out to gather more information about each participant's experience level and interests. For trips where the waitlist exceeds the allotted group size, participants will be selected by lottery.
