Social and Adventure Stories

Come socialize with fellow adventurers and hear three 20-minute presentations by CMC members about their recent travels covering the Sierra High Route in California, a bike adventure in Norway, and a Transpacific sailing adventure. They’ll talk about trip planning and highlights, share photos, and answer questions. This event is open to all members and guests, but registration is required due to space limitations.

This free event will be held at Purpose Brewery in Fort Collins. Social from 6:00-6:30 p.m. Program from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Please register if you plan to attend as space is limited.

Program Presenters:

Marek Borowiec - Sierra Nevada Backpacking Adventure: 160 Miles on John Muir Trail and Sierra High Route

Marek will share about his 13-day backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. Included will be bits of human and natural history of John Muir Trail and Sierra High Route, photos of grand mountain vistas, and lessons from thru-hike preparations and multiday off-trail travel in alpine terrain.

Melinda Deinert - A 238-Mile Biking Adventure in Norway

Melinda will talk about a bike tour along the Mjølkevegen and Rallarvegen routes in Norway. This 238-mile ride on gravel roads and historic railway paths winds through high mountain plateaus, lush valleys, and remote lakes before descending into the fjords of Flåm.

Jean Peccoud - A Transpacific Sailing Adventure

Jean will present on his experience sailing from New Zealand to Alaska and spending two months exploring the tidal glaciers of AK. Learn more about the project here.
