This hike to Royal Arch from Chautauqua Park begins with an ascent on the Chautauqua Trail, offering open views of Boulder and the surrounding foothills. We then transition onto the steeper Ski Jump Trail, winding through a mix of grasslands and forested areas with glimpses of the Flatirons. After merging with the Bluebell Baird and Flatirons Loop Trails, we ascend through rocky terrain on the Royal Arch Trail, traversing Sentinel Pass, a small but scenic saddle offering a brief respite before the final push to Royal Arch. The return via the Bluebell Trail completes a loop that captures the rugged beauty and diverse landscapes of the area. We will find a comfortable spot at/near the Royal Arch for lunch/snack. Our pace will be determined by the strength, stamina, and endurance of the group. Overall ~4 miles and ~1600 ft elevation gain. (Royal Arch Loop - CalTopo)
