Carpool Place & Time: Meet at Wooly Mammoth PnR (Section BB) 6:00am and depart by 6:15am (Wooly Mammoth Park-N-Ride - Google Maps)

We'll carpool to the Berthoud Pass Parking Lot (Berthoud Pass Parking Lot - Google Maps)

This will be an ~6 mile, ~1800 ft elevation gain hike that gets us to the summit of Mount Flora. We'll leave from Berthoud Pass and hike along the ridge between Colorado Mins Peak and Mount Flora. We'll have the option of summiting Colorado Mines Peak (12506 ft) on the way back. This is an encore hike of an Ascending Hikes series.

We'll be hiking an out-n-back route from Berthoud Pass to the saddle between Colorado Mines and Mount Flora peaks following the Mount Flora Trail/CDT and then along the ridge to the summit. Most of this trail is above treeline, so expect windy conditions. We'll find a location at or near the summit for lunch/snack. On our return we can alter our route and summit Colorado Mines Peak (12506ft) and then follow the Colorado Mine Road back to Berthoud Pass. Our pace will be determined by the strength, stamina, and endurance of the group. (Mount Flora - CalTopo)

The Colorado Mountain Club's Ascending Hike Section (AHS) provides an opportunity to make new friends and explore new places in Colorado's backcountry, while increasing your personal hiking speed, strength, and stamina. The section is administered by CMC volunteers.  There is no cost, fee, or scheduling commitment.  There are no dues or elections.  Open to all CMC members.  To join the section, contact the CMC office.
