Ascending Hikes – Sniktau via Loveland Pass

This is another Ascending Hike in a series designed ONLY for those CMC MEMBERS looking for help on their hiking ability. The hike is at a high elevation so we can concentrate on our pace and breathing at that elevation. We'll experience following a trail over boulders and gaze around from the high point and see many famous peaks and other landmarks.

Alert!  This is a popular program.  If there is a standby list, join it.  Standby lists almost always clear.  Your Trip Leader and AHS Coordinators put a lot of effort into planning section activities.  Last minute cancellations and no-shows are very discouraging and insufficient numbers may jeopardize the program.  We realize that “things happen,” however PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AN AHS TRIP UNLESS YOU FULLY INTEND TO PARTICIPATE ON TRIP DAY.  

Meet at the Wooly Mammoth Park N Ride Section BB at 6:30 to arrange carpools, and a prompt drive-away.  The address is US-40 18540–18842 Golden, CO 80401, just south of I-70 exit 259. Across from the Exxon Station.

On the way, we will make a comfort stop at the Georgetown Visitor Center, just south of I-70 exit 228.

The Sniktau TH is at Loveland Pass, just before the Eisenhower Tunnel.  Take exit 216, go under the freeway, follow US-6 W toward Loveland Pass. Here is a Google Map Link: https://goo.gl/maps/oKuuGeJFnxoFRwup8

Please, if you are a long time CMC member not signing up specifically for the help offered by an Ascending Hike, but just to "do this trip," wait until 24 hours before trip day to join the roster, to ensure those seeking Ascending Hike help have first access.
