Beginner backpacking trip (1-night) primarily for recent graduates of the PPG WTS-Intro to Backpacking Class. Others will be waitlisted until June 18th when empty slots will be released. Rated Moderate. 4.5-miles uphill one way / 1,600 elev gain

We are meeting at the North Cottonwood Creek Trailhead at
9:30am at the trailhead sign at the end of the road/parking area. 

Be sure to secure your vehicle and hide any valuables from sight.

From Colorado Springs, travel via Highway 24 to Buena Vista.
Then to Crossman Ave in Buena Vista, then Co Rd 350, Co Rd 365 and
Forest Rd 365 to the trailhead

This is a 1-night BEGINNER backpack - reviewing and reinforcing skills relating to carrying loads, selecting campsites, purifying water, storing food, cooking food, and reviewing the terrain and hazards to enjoy the outdoors safely while self-supported in the backcountry.

We will observe the Leave No Trace principles carefully to be good outdoor citizens and neighbors.

This trip is rated "Moderate" per the CMC difficulty rating due to more than 1,000-ft of elevation gain in a day.
