BPX Trip – BPX 3-Day: 40 mile Creek to Willow Gulch (Escalante, Utah)

This is a five-day trip to the Escalante region of which the 40 Mile - Willow Gulch backpack is a 3-day part and the remaining 2 days are devoted to day hikes. Do NOT sign up for this trip unless you intend to do the entire 5-day trip. The miles and elevation gain shown are only for the 3-day backpack.

The 40 Mile - Willow Gulch backpack is an adventureous trip that traverses beautiful narrows in 40 Mile Creek, visits a spectacular arch in Willow Gulch, and explores the lower reaches of 40 Mile Creek that normally lay under the waters of Lake Powell.

It is not without its challenges: in spite of the relatively modest distances and elevation gain (a total of roughly 18 miles, 1000 ft.) the travel is often over difficult terrain requiring occasional scrambles and through spring-fed narrows that necessitate wading to traverse.
