BPX Trip – BPX 3-Day: Bison and McCurdy Peaks from Lost Park TH
This 3-day backpacking trip begins at the Lost Park Trailhead, with a hike on Day 1 to a scenic campsite off the shoulder of Bison Peak near Indian Creek. Day 2 features a rewarding summit loop of Bison and McCurdy Peaks, with expansive views and striking granite formations, before returning to the same campsite. On Day 3, the journey wraps up with a peaceful hike back to the trailhead through the rolling terrain of the Lost Creek Wilderness. This trip is for BPX members. This three-day backpacking adventure into the heart of Colorado’s Lost Creek Wilderness begins at the Lost Park Trailhead, winding through lush meadows and granite-strewn forest to a secluded campsite tucked off the shoulder of Bison Peak near Indian Creek. Day two unveils the trip’s dramatic centerpiece: a high alpine traverse across the windswept summit of Bison Peak—famed for its fantastical granite formations—followed by a rugged ascent of neighboring McCurdy Peak, offering panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness. After a night beneath star-filled skies, the journey concludes with a serene hike out, retracing the trail through whispering pines and wide-open high country, leaving the wild beauty of Bison and McCurdy behind—but not forgotten.

Required Equipment
