Hiking – Arapaho Glacier Trail

RMOTHG MEMBERS ONLY (FULLY VACCINATED) - Join Jeanne and Ralph for this beautiful tundra hike along Caribou Ridge. It is high above Rainbow Lakes, Nederland and has great views of Indian Peaks, Boulder Watershed Lakes & more.

YOU MUST BE A STRONG B HIKER, ABLE TO HIKE DOWN FAST IF WEATHER IS MOVING IN AS THIS HIKE IS ABOVE TREELINE QUITE A BIT!!!

Our pace will be CASUAL on the way up and MODERATE on the way down.

Join Jeanne Eiss and Ralph Shroba for this beautiful tundra hike.  After hiking  2.25 miles, we will have gorgeous views of some of the Indian Peaks and the Boulder Watershed Lakes below.  (We'll view the Arapaho Glacier from this distance as the actual overlook to the glacier is a 12 mile out-and-back from our TH.)   As we climb the flank Caribou Mountain for the next 1.5 miles we'll have views to the east of the foothills and an especially nice view of the Rainbow Lakes below.  From our lunch spot we'll be able to see Kiowa Peak, North and South Arapaho Peaks and Niwot Ridge.  Please let Jeanne know of any pertinent medical conditions:  do you carry an epi pen, have asthma, diabetes or any other conditions. 

We will meet at the Coors Tek Parking Lot (Behind the CMC Building, 710 10th Street, Golden, CO)  We'll meet @ 6:20AM for a 6:30AM departure.

We will have an additional meeting place at the Home Depot in Boulder (1600 29th St, Boulder)  We'll meet @ 6:50AM for a 7:00AM departure.

Please bring your face mask for carpooling ($6 for your driver), but also be prepared to drive yourself. 

The Rainbow Lakes trailhead is 5 miles off of the Peak to Peak Highway on CO116.  CO116 is a dirt road and  has a fair number of potholes.  A high clearance vehicle is recommended, but 4WD is not necessary.
