Trail and Pace - the first mile through forest is quite steep (~750’ elev gain), so we will take it slow (~1 mph). After about 1 mile, the trail will break open into a meadow with picnic tables and restrooms at Broome Hut. We will stop here for a snack break, before proceeding, weather permitting, ~1.4 miles up a steep, rocky trail above tree line to the summit and on to the Twin Cones, for 360 vistas looking down onto Winter Park ski resort and out to neighboring peaks. The pace will accommodate the group. We will break for lunch back at the Broome Hut picnic area. The descent from Broome Hut back to the TH is expected to be paced at 2-2.3 mph.
