Buffalo Mountain is the massive mountain you see on the northwest side of Silverthorne, easily visible when descending I-70 west from the Eisenhower Tunnel. While much of this hike is on reasonably good trail, the steepest part of the trail, about 700 – 800 feet of elevation gain, involves maneuvering through a boulder field.
