Hiking – Elk Meadow Park
DOGGIE HIKE-Sleepy South to Meadow View to Painter's Pause trail loop. All are welcome, with or without at dog. We will go clockwise around the loop, resulting in a slow incline. Dogs must be on a six foot leash and under control at all times.

This is a relatively easy loop, in a meadow and through some forested areas. While open to mountain bikers, it is not usually too busy during the week. All are welcome, and typically there are a number of people without dogs. We will stop about midway for a snack/lunch.
This is a Jefferson County Open Space, which requires that dogs must be kept on a leash and be under owner's control at all times. If you are bringing a dog, please familiarize yourself with the CMC dog hike policy https://cmcdenver.org/groupresources/denver-group-dog-hikes-policy
The trail is listed in All Trails as Painter's Pause, Meadow View and Sleepy S Trail Loop (but we will be doing it clockwise, in reverse order).
We will meet at the Elk Meadow Park East Trailhead (also called Lewis Ridge Trailhead). The address pf the Lewis Ridge Trailhead is 2851 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, but this will actually take you a little bit past the trailhead parking lot. From 70 west, take exit 252 onto Evergreen Parkway (SH-74). 4.5 miles. Turn right onto Bergen Peak Drive, 250 ft. Take the first right into parking lot.
We will meet at 8:50, planning to start hiking at 9:00. There is a vault toilet at the trailhead.
Required Equipment
Ten essentials. Sunscreen will be important as much of the hike is in a meadow, in direct sunlight if it is a sunny day. Poles may be helpful. Please bring plenty of water, including extra water for your dog. There are no streams along this route.
