Hiking – Keller Mountain
We plan to climb Keller Mountain, a 13’er in the Gore Range near Silverthorne. This is a difficult peak with off-trail travel and route finding through deadfall. The primary plan is to climb the Southwest Face, which is a class 2+ route with approximately 3,600’ of elevation gain. This route may be a snow climb at this time of year.

Expected risks: Potential rockfall, slips due to lingering snow/ice.
Start at the Rock Creek Trailhead along nice single track trail. We will
eventually be off trail shortly after the old Boss Mine, navigating a
somewhat rigorous bushwhack up to an unnamed alpine lake. From there
we will navigate a gully up the Southwest face.
The overall pace will likely be around 1.5 mph, with the bushwhack
section necessitating slower speed.
Everyone is to meet at North Pond Park in Silverthorne. Depart North Pond Park at 6:00 AM so please arrive around 5:50 AM at latest to have time to use the restroom and get into carpool groups if you don’t want to drive the 4x4 road. North Pond Park is
across Hamilton Creek Rd. from Silverthorne Elementary. https://www.google.com/maps/place/North+Pond+Park/@39.6592178,-106.0829285,412m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x876a5cb9fb180909:0x42fa555bb050676f!8m2!3d39.6588804!4d-106.0820228!16s%2Fg%2F1tcvvbkg!5m1!1e4?entry=ttu
