This is an easy out and back hike at a relaxed pace, great for beginners or anyone just wanting to enjoy the views, fresh air, and outdoors. We will start out on the Eagle Mesa trail for about a mile then take a spur trail over to the North Shore trail and continue for about an additional mile, then return stopping on the North Edge loop for a lunch overlooking the lake. This is rolling terrain and some of the gullies may still have ice, snow, or mud.

The group should meet at the pinion road loop off the North Marina Road at 9:45 for a 10:00 am start. The trip will start at the Southern trailhead for Eagle Mesa Trail just up the road from the parking loop. The group will follow to a spur trail that hugs the arm of the lake to join up with the North Shore trail and continue for about 2 miles out, then turn around and take the North Edge loop to stop for lunch/snacks with a view overlooking the lake and the southern view to the wet mountains.
Required Equipment
Besides the 10 essentials, please bring layers for widely changing temperatures and prepare for potential winds as this hike is largely in the open. The lower portions of the trail may be muddy or hide patches of ice. Bring water, snacks, lunch, sit pad or chair.
