The trail starts at the Horn Creek Trail Head at 9,100'.  It follows Rainbow Trail #1336 South for the first 3 miles gaining 1,235'.  It will then fork SW onto Macey Trail #1341 for approximately 4 miles gaining another 1,705'.  This is not a heavily used trail.  There was considerable downfall in the area last winter.  This has been cleared, but, the trail may still be rough.    Afternoon showers are common this time of year.

Dogs are allowed, but be aware that this is a long, rough, hike.  Bring a leash, snacks and water for them.

This is an exploratory hike to learn the trail and the area.  The group size will be kept to 4 or 5.  Some of the group will be camping in the area overnight.  This group will meet others at the Horn Creek Trailhead at 6:30 am.  There will not be a meetup in town.  We are planning on holding a strong pace, with few breaks, to achieve our goal and return to the TH by 3, or 4, p.m.  We will stop for a brief lunch break.  If you are interested in joining us contact the leader Marsha Littau.
