Hiking – Missouri Lakes

There will be a paper sign up sheet Monday night at Baby Doe Campground and I will enter the info to cmc.org after the campout is over. 

This is a stunning hike through the Holy Cross Wilderness with bridged crossings over surging creeks, waterfalls, and serene alpine lakes. The terrain is generally moderate, but with three steep sections.

We will meet at the Baby Doe campground, meeting time tbd. but need to leave early for both limited parking space and to avoid afternoon T-storms.  Travel time is 54 min and distance is 60 miles RT.  Take Hyw. 24 out of Leadville over Tenn.Pass to FSR. 703, which is on a hairpin curve, then drive to Missouri Rd.(704), then to the trailhead.

Directions: 

Head northeast toward Turquoise Lake Rd for 0.5 mi

Turn right onto Turquoise Lake Rd for 0.9 mi

Turn left onto County Road 9 for 0.4 mi

Turn left onto Co Rd 99 for 1.6 miles

Turn left onto US-24 W for 16.7 miles

Turn left onto Homestake Reservoir Rd for 7.8 miles

Turn right onto Missouri Creek Rd for 2.2 miles
