Hiking – Mount Garfield

The hike to the top of Mount Garfield is a 4 mile round trip with a 2,000 foot climb. The summit is the highest point in the Bookcliffs formation, with an amazing 360 view.

We will meet at the trailhead near Palisade, CO at 7:30 am for an early start.

The trailhead is reached by taking I-70 exit 42, head south for .15 miles and turn right onto G 7/10 Road.  Follow this road 1.6 miles, after driving through a narrow tunnel under I-70, you will arrive at the trailhead parking area.

Bring 10 essentials and plenty of water, as the route climbs the southern exposure of Mount Garfield.  The route climbs steep slopes, exposed terrain and loose footing, thus trekking poles are recommended.
