Hiking – Orbital Trail - Segment 23

For Rocky Mountain Over the Hill Gang members ONLY. We will hike Segment 23 of the Denver Orbital Trail (DOT) which takes us around Hunters Glen Lake and along greenways and neighborhood streets until we go under 1-25. We then will be on the Big Dry Creek Trail. The whole hike will be on paved paths and sidewalks.

The DOT is a walking route that makes a full circle around Denver.  We are hiking most of segment 23 (we’re starting a half mile in because there is better parking – and bathrooms – here).    Here is the link to the map of Segment 23: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/dot-segment-23-signal-ditch-trail-hunters-glen-lake-and-big-dry-creek-trail  We will be on paved paths and sidewalks for all of this hike.  There are bathrooms at the start of our hike and a couple of spots along the way.

This route is exploratory for the trip leaders. 

Carpool: Since the distance between trailheads is short and half of us will be driving, there will be no carpool cost sharing.  

We will meet at 9:00am at the Big Dry Creek Open Space at W 112th Ave & Vrain Street, Westminster, CO 80031.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/dqT3NwmjT6hdfJ6G8    We will then carpool to our starting spot at Hunters Glen Lake in Thornton.
