Hiking – Pikes Peak via Crags Campground
A dog-friendly fall visit to timberline and a shorter variation of this trip (not to the summit of Pikes Peak). A challenging 8-mile out and back to Devil's Playground via Trail #753. Views of the Sangres and the central Rockies if nature cooperates.

It's been a hot minute since the leader has been up this trail so consider this an exploratory outing. Expect to be on the trail around 7 hours.
Could be frigid at the start and above timberline (though the weather outlook is good at this writing). Falls brings out hunters as well as leaf colors so some blaze orange or bright clothing is not a bad idea.
Optional carpool meetup at 6:20 a.m. at Red Rocks Safeway, 3275 West Colorado Ave. otherwise be at Crags TH (not the campground) by 7:20 a.m. for a 7:30 hiking start.
