Welcome to Rise & Grind, the CMC Boulder Group’s morning hiking and coffee series. Our objective is to start our day off right with some exercise, good company and a little mindfulness. In addition to the hike itself, we’ll pause on the summit for a moment of silent reflection and set our intentions for the day. Afterward there will be an optional stop for coffee, symbolizing a fresh start and the energy needed to conquer the day.
This morning's Rise & Grind will climb Bear & South Boulder Peak from West Ridge. The route will ascend approximately 2,549 feet over 9.5 miles round trip.
IMPORTANT: Because of the mileage, this trip will take between five and six hours, which is much longer than our usual Rise & Grind.
This hike focuses on the GRIND in Rise & Grind. This will be a fast-paced, challenging hike without rest stops and is not appropriate for beginner hikers. You should be comfortable hiking at 2.5mph and climbing more than 1,000 feet in under one mile at a moderate (2.0 mph or 30 min/mile) pace without significant breaks. This will be a before-work hike for some participants, so it’s important that we maintain our pace and finish promptly so folks can get to work on time. Please know your own abilities and be considerate of the rest of the group when you sign up.
