We will get an early start to hopefully avoid thunder storms. We will hike at a slow pace to take time to ID minute alpine flowers. Summiting is optional, weather & time dependent. It could be breezy and quite cool, maybe 50's in the AM. Primary purpose is to identify alpine flowers. The first mile quite steep, & will likely take 2 hrs as we are looking for alpine flowers. Then we will turn left and ramble along the ridge. Just before the true summit there is a steep down hill, appprox 100-?200 ft and steep up to the true summit. Return trip will be faster down the same trail, there is loose gravel so one needs to be careful to not slip.
Meet at Wooly Mammoth P/R, section BB, 6:30am for a 6:45am departure. We will take a bathroom stop at Georgetown Visitor Center.
Required Equipment
Trekking poles are beneficial for steep terrain. You may bring an alpine flower ID book if desired.
