Hiking – South Valley Park

We will meet at the North Trial head of South Valley at 8354 South Valley Road Littleton, CO 80127 . The trail winds among the large Red Rock formations on an undulating trail . We will be on Swallow trail and Grazing Elk loop trail.

Meeting at  8 : 15 for a    8 :30  am departure.   Please bring all 10 essentials . which included 2 quarts of water , wind jacket, energy snacks  and electrolytes.   This is for persons wanting to increase their  physical fitness  and encourage   new members to participate in   the CMC.   We will try to maintain a  pace of  1.6 to 2.0 miles per hour.

10 essentials in your   backpack , sturdy walking shoes and trekking   poles

10 essential are; NO COTTON clothing , wear wicking  clothing

2 quarts of water ,  , not 1 queat

,2 quarts of water - have atleast  some water accessible without stopping on  the  trail l , either a bottle ont he sid eof your pack or a camel back with a   hose.

snacks, electolytes and  a  light lunch 

sunglasses, sun hat and sunscreen

layers of clothing, wind jacket    not a poncho and a hat

a warm layer,perhaps  a fleece and  a puffy coat , gloves

 goggles  might be appropriate for a   hike in higher elevation

trekking poles are helpful for  balance 

sturdy hiking boots and socks that wick dry 

 fire starter, repair kit , first aid kit

 emegency blanket ,small bivvy sac, 

flashlight ,extra batteries
