We will be hiking at an easy to moderate pace of 2 miles per hour with frequent stops along the way to take in the views.
The route is 9 miles with a lot of uphill. Please be confident that you are in condition to complete the hike.
The hike should take approximately 4.5 hours. Please plan for 6 hours plus travel time so that we are not rushed to return.

Let's meet at 7:30am at JJs Gas Station and Mini-Market. It is located on the NW corner of the intersection of S Taft Hill Road and Count Road 38 E (aka W Harmony Road) in Fort Collins. If you have any last-minute issues I can be reached at 970-222-5576.
We can carpool from JJ's to Lory State Park which requires a Colorado State Parks Permit. I have room for up to 4 passengers. We will probably need at least one more driver, preferably with a Colorado State Parks Permit.
There will be no carpool fee collected since the trailhead is only another 20 minutes from the meetup location. However, if second driver does not have a Colorado State Parks Permit everyone will be expected to contribute to pay for a day pass.
Required Equipment
Everyone is required to bring 2 liters of water, snacks, warm jacket or sweater, rain jacket, warm hat and gloves. Even though we are close into the city it is a long hike and the weather this time of year is unpredictable.
Poles and traction devices are recommended if there has been a recent snow.
