Hiking – Tunnel Drive Trail-Canon City
please join me for an easy walk along Canon City’s Tunnel Drive trail on Saturday, December 27, 2025, and shake out some holiday cobwebs. This is a 3.9-mile round trip, out and back with about 213 ft total elevation gain on mainly dirt and gravel with views of the river gorge. We'll keep an easy pace, with stops as desired for viewing scenery and wildlife.

Consider bringing binoculars, as bighorn sheep are occasionally sited in the area,
Pueblo participants will meet for an 8:30 am departure at the intersection of South McCulloch Blvd West and Highway 50 in Pueblo West (38°20'31.6"N 104°46'10.6"W). Alternatively meet at the Tunnel Drive Trailhead, 205 Tunnel Dr, Cañon City, CO 81212 at 9am. Please contact Rich Joy by text (719-744-7840) or email and designate where you will meet the group. Carpooling can be arranged at the meet-up location. Depending upon participant's desires, we could discuss stopping for lunch in Canon City.
Required Equipment
Please bring the 10 essentials including 2 liters of water or as needed for the conditions. The weather forecast is for fair and mild conditions, but be prepared for sudden changes.
