This is a CMC Bobcats trip
The Bobcats’ mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly age 50+ constituents. We don’t have dues or elections and we invite all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip. The Bobcats publish an email newsletter on the 15th of each month, which includes the upcoming month’s trips that have just been opened
Meet at the Fort Restaurant in Morrison on CO Hwy 8 just off US 285. It’s the first exit west of C-470. Park along highway 8 just past the The Fort’s parking lot entrance. Meet at 5:45am for a prompt 6:00am departure. Here is a Google Maps link to The Fort Restaurant: https://goo.gl/maps/LT2UoLK53HC2 .
We will start at the Gibson Lake trail from the Whale Peak Trailhead (Google Maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/6bJzXEfT6eJjiusr9 ). From the Fort we will get on Colorado 8 to Highway 285. We will take Highway 285 to County Road 60, west of Grant. This road will pass several campsites, a little over a mile past the Hall Valley Campsite we will reach our destination. The last mile or so of the road to the trailhead is not in the best of shape and so drivers are suggested to have 4WD or AWD.
Due to the difficulty of this hike, this trip is “register with leader”. Contact Jose Pacheco (whose leader in training hike this is) to register. Email – jpachecowashu30@gmail.com , Cell – 314-910-8731. If he does not know who you are, you will also have to state two or three recent hikes you have been on that demonstrate that you can do this one.
