The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+constituents.

We don't have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip.

You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting Bobcats Section in the CMC Trip Calendar Section pull-down menu.

We send out a monthly email to our members with trip info and your trip photos. To join our free mailing list and become a member, select the Bobcats Section anytime in your Member Profile.

Meeting Location: north end of the dirt pull-out in front of The Fort Restaurant. Meet at 6:30 am to sort carpools and equipment for a 6:45 drive-away..

All participants must be vaccinated and boosted against Covid-19. Current covid policies here: https://cmc.org/COVID-19andCMCProgramming.aspx

We will access the eastern end of Burning Bear Trail from Abyss TH, off Geneva Rd. On paper, we will hike to a point about 3.25 miles in and then bushwhack up to Burning Bear Peak on about a 271 degree. We will descend back down to the trail on about 130 degree bearing and continue on west to the Park CR-60 TH where our cars will be waiting for us. The Peak climb is exploratory for the leaders.

If you are willing to drive, bring two car keys for your car. There we will trade cars and provide the extra keys and our cars to the Trip #1 hikers. We will carpool in their cars to the Abyss TH, park, and lock their extra keys under the front mats of their cars. They will carpool in our cars to the CO-60 parking, doing the same. We will hold on to our own car keys to allow entry when we reach our cars.

What this means is that our cars will be waiting for us at the CR-60 TH Parking Lot when we finish our hike and we will be free to return to The Fort, sort equipment and people, and then head home without having to coordinate with the other group. Those up for it can make an apres hike stop at the Snowpack Tavern on the way back to The Fort.

EITHER WAY IS APPROX THE SAME ELEVATION GAIN/LOSS, but expect pace on this trip to be more casual than the other group more moderate to fast pace, so select the group best suited to you. If we meet on the trail at the right time, we'll have lunch together.
