We'll hike a loop route. From the winter parking lot, we'll hike along the Waldrop Trail to the South St. Vrain Trail and the Mitchell Lake Trail to Mitchell Lake. We'll make our way back to the parking area along the CMC Snowshoe Trail and Snowshow Trail #814.3. Overall ~9 miles and ~1000 ft elevation gain. (Mitchell Lake Loop - CalTopo)
Depending on the trail conditions will either showshoe or hike using microspikes (please bring both and be prepared to carry your snowshoes on your backpack, we'll make the final decision at the trailhead). We'll find a sunny spot near the lake and have a snack/lunch, before returning to the cars. Our pace will be consistent with completing this hike in a reasonable amount of time.
