RMOTHG Trip – Elk Meadow Park

     This hike is for RMOTHG members only, and part of it is exploratory for the leaders. We will begin our hike by taking the two new trails, both of which are south of Stagecoach Boulevard. Bobcat Loop will serve as a warm up loop, and then we will move on to the Jenkins Peak trail; it is a balloon trail, and we will be taking  the loop portion of this in a counterclockwise direction so as to descend a steep flight of steps rather than ascending them. At the top of Jenkins Peak, we will stop for a quick snack and a toast to the successful summit of a peak that is new to most of us.

     After completing Jenkins Peak, we will then move on to the remainder of our journey, which is on the north side of Stagecoach Boulevard. The Meadow View, Elkridge, and Sleepy S trail are said to be “well-forested and well-maintained and marked but be prepared for some steep sections with rocks.”

      As this is not a difficult hike, we will try to move along at a fairly quick and steady pace.

Wooly Mammoth ParknRide, Section BB, at 7:20 a.m. to arrange carpools and depart no later than 7:30.
