Scramble – Greyrock Mountain TH
Tour du Greyrock. This will be a tour of Greyrock Mountain, including the summit of Greyrock, and six ‘satellite’ high points in the area, including North Greyrock and the Aiguille du Greyrock. Expect a long day at a moderate pace with minimal stops. We will be off trail most of the time and participants need to be comfortable with 3rd and 4th class scrambling.

We’ll circumnavigate the Greyrock massif (and take in the Greyrock summit since we’re there) on this challenging trip. Shortly after crossing the river at the trailhead we’ll turn north and head off trail up a steep ridge to our first high point. From there we’ll continue north taking in another high point before rejoining the trail and summiting Greyrock Mountain. Route finding is required to descend off the north ridge of Greyrock Mountain before heading north west and turning our attention to North Greyrock, with an easy class 3 scramble near its summit. The route now turns south as we head for the Aiguille du Greyrock, which has a class 4 section. A scrambling descent will bring us to the Greyrock Meadow trail and we’ll continue on and off trail to our final two high points, before rejoining the trail close to the trailhead.
Meetup details will be emailed to participants.
