Scramble – Sunrise Hike/Scramble Royal Arch and Buckets-Amoebioid (2 scrambles)

Chautaqua Trailhead, Boulder 6am

We'll take "standard" trails up to the Royal Arch from Chautaqua, then explore two scrambles: Buckets/Amoebiod scramble just west of Royal Arch off-trail then scramble up Royal Arch.

Buckets is a steep 4th class (Testa Book) or 5.0 per Mountain Project 300' ascent with a walk-off.

Royal Arch is a 4th class ascent of maybe 200'. Note that you have to downclimb it, so don't go up if you are not comfortable with dowclimbs like these.

You can absolutely choose to avoid both scrambles and just hike to Royal Arch to enjoy sunrise.
