BPX 2-Day: Colorado Trail - Segment 10 from Timberland Lake TH

Segment 10 of the Colorado Trail is a 12.8 mile, moderately difficult route connecting the Timberline Lake Trailhead (near Turquoise Lake) to the Mount Massive Trailhead. It features forested terrain, mountain streams, and stunning views of the Sawatch Range, with approximately 2,600 feet of elevation gain/loss. Segment 10 passes through the Mount Massive Wilderness Area.

Suggested Backpacking Section (BPX) itinerary for x-day trip to be used for CMC trips led by BPX leaders for BPX members.

Day 1: Shuttle a car to the Mount Massive TH, the end point of the trip.  Leave one car there and the other cars drive to Timberline Lake TH (35 -45 min).  

Starting at Timberline Lake TH hike the Colorado Trail south to Rock Creek . Find a good site and make camp (6.1 miles, +1,487 / -1,223 ft.).

Route: Day 1

Day 2: Hike south on Segment 10 of the Colorado Trail to the Mount Massive TH ( (6.75 miles, +1,261 / -1,454 ft.).

Route: Day 2

Overall Route: 12.8 miles, +2,738 / -2,620 ft.
