South Eastern Trip #1: Carrizo and Picture Canyon
We'll be visiting 2 interesting canyons in SE Colorado: Carrizo Canyon and Picture Canyon in SE Colorado with 3 days, two nights from April 23 to April 25.
On Tuesday, we'll drive via Lamar (lunch), Springfield and Campo to Carrizo Canyon. Car camp. Then check out the short hike along the creek and look for petroglyphs. Wednesday, we'll drive to Picture Canyon and hike a 6 mile loop through canyons and over the plateau. Back to car camp. Thursday, drive home or, optional, visit Bents Old Fort, Sand Creek Massacre and/or the Japanese internment camp Amachi.
Individual Food: 3 lunches, 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. There is no water available so bring at least three gallons of water for drinking, cooking and washing.
