The Spider and The Fly

The Spider (12,692 ft) which is officially ranked and The Fly (12,550 ft) peaks are located in the Gore Range near Vail . Class 3 -4. Difficult. Approx 4,600 ft elevation gain and approx 11 miles.

From Booth Lake trailhead at 8200ft follow the trail to Booth lake at 11500ft, the Fly dominates the view while the Spider hides behind, out of view from lake visitors. Both summits reside so close to one another it’s easy to consider them a singular mountain. In the end, both inherit their own character mostly because of a spectacular, serrated ridge that splits the two suspended summits. Overall, the Spider proves the better peak of the two. The rock is bomber and the views are nonstop. Initially climbing grassy ledges and cliff bands followed by a Class 3 gully you gain the east ridge of the Fly before going onward to the Spider.
