Field trip: Avalanche Rescue Companion (State)

Expect to spend 7 hours outdoors working on your avalanche rescue skills. It will be cold. Bring something hot to drink.

This is an 8 hour course with an online learning component which can be accessed prior to the class and afterwards.  The AIARE site requires a login and a code to get to the on-line materials.  You will receive the link and code upon registration via e-mail.

Most of the time is in the field practicing burial/rescue scenarios as individuals, as teams, single burials to multi-burials being coached by an AIARE Professional.

Carpooling will start at CMC Basecamp.

Beacon, Probe, Shovel. CMC does not have this equipment to rent.

It is winter in Colorado. Winds, precip, below freezing temperatures. COLD! Layers, puffs, shells, gloves, extra gloves and ski googles.  Skis, snowboard, split-boards or snowshoes work, Hand and foot warmers always recommended.

Skiers, incl split-boarders and snowboarders - helmet recommended, not required. Snowshoers - helmets not required.

Food and drink (warm is nice) to carry you through the day.

Think 10 Essentials appropriate for the cold Colorado Winter.
