Avalanche Rescue Companion (State)

This course is specifically for CMC Trip Leaders that need to get certified or recertified for trip leading or instructing. The course is free for active trip leaders and instructors. Please fill out the application to be accepted into the course.

If the course is full, please apply and join the waitlist. If we have enough participants interested, we will add on another instructor and open the course to more students. 

About AIARE Avalanche Rescue: This is a one-day stand alone course that is intended to be retaken on a regular basis.  Participants will learn the basics of companion rescue and expand their skill set with advanced topics and realistic scenario practice to help improve their skills. Each participant will have the opportunity to receive professional coaching on their rescue skills, and will receive a rescue card acknowledging the completion date. AIARE recommends that all backcountry travelers keep their skills current by taking an Avalanche Rescue course and receiving a rescue card at least every other year. 

CMC requires it every 5 years at least to refresh and update skills CMC leaders and instructors use in the field.
