Basic Rock Climbing at the Crag

Are you new to rock climbing or have you visited the gym a few times but haven't yet had the opportunity to climb outdoors? If so, this class is designed for you! Beginners and anyone looking to refresh their fundamental skills are welcome to participate.

In this class, we will cover essential topics such as:

* Proper usage of climbing helmets, harnesses, and belay devices (brake assisted and non brake assisted)

* How to securely tie into the rope using a Figure Eight Retrace knot

* Tying essential knots including the Overhand Knot, Clove Hitch, and Girth Hitch

* Techniques for top rope belaying using the Pull-Brake-Under-Slide (PBUS) method

* Standard climbing communication and commands

* The correct method for coiling a climbing rope

We will be climbing in Boulder Canyon.
