NoCo ASC - Optional Scrambling Trip – RMNP - Lookout Mountain

Optional scrambling trip for the Northern Colorado Alpine Scrambling Course. This trip will include off trail navigation to the northern end of Horsetooth Peak with a full traverse of Horsetooth and then continue up the ridge to Lookout Mountain. This is a Class 3 scramble that borders on Class 4. We will use some protection. The return route will be on trail.

For those traveling up 34, we will meet at JAX West (old Kmart) 6:50am for a 7:00am departure. We may need a carpool location for participants traveling up 36. Time and location TBD.  The trailhead has limited parking, so we want 2 vehicles, 3 at most.

This is an elective scrambling trip for the NoCo Alpine Scrambling Course.  Students must complete three elective scrambling trips in order to graduate and earn the appropriate Badge.

Helmet

Harness (Climbing or Alpine)

Locking carabiners and Prusik Loop

Approach shoes or equivalent, must have good climbing capability
