Sherry Richardson (lov2hyk@gmail.com) will be the on-site director for Week 2 of the 2023 ISO. Many thanks to Sherry for joining us again. For any administrative questions, please contact the ISO off-site director, Linda Ditchkus (lvditchkus@hotmail.com) .

This year, the ISO will be in new territory! We’re staying in the southwest part of Colorado at the Blue Spruce RV Park and Cabins north of Bayfield.

The Blue Spruce resort borders on the Weminuche Wilderness where hiking opportunities abound (i.e., without distractions from motorized vehicles and bikes). The Weminuche is the largest wilderness in all of Colorado. We might begin a trek on Pine River trails and work our way into the Weminuche. You’ll be in awe of the lush valley floor and rugged peaks that surround you as you get deeper into the mountains.

The resort is a short drive from the north side of Vallecito Lake—one of Colorado’s most beautiful mountain lake destinations. At 7,800 feet above sea level, Vallecito Lake is the largest body of water at this elevation or higher in Colorado. ISO participants could bring their kayaks or stand-up paddle-boards to take advantage of the lake. You could also head over to Vallecito Marina. They feature boat, kayak, and SUP rentals.

For this year, ALL participants will be staying in cabins. The price is set for double or triple occupancy. There’s no accommodations upgrade this year. If you don’t have a buddy or two to share a cabin, a roommate will be assigned to you. However, a single supplement (i.e., an additional $750) may be applied to your rate if you’d like to have a cabin to yourself. There will be a very limited number of RV spots available. Please contact the organizer (Linda Ditchkus at lvditchkus@hotmail.com) to check on availability of single supplement accommodations or if you’d like an RV spot.

The Blue Spruce resort cabins each have kitchens and bathrooms. The resort has a covered pavilion for our group meals and enrichment activities. It also has a laundry and recreation areas with pool tables, air hockey, and horseshoes. The resort has WiFi.

Included in the registration price: cabin accommodation, all meals, guided hikes/events, and evening activities. Contact Linda Ditchkus for information regarding availability on single occupancy cabin pricing.

Cancellation before May 2, 2023: All money (less a $75 administration fee) will be refunded.

Cancellation May 2 through June 30, 2023: If a waitlisted person takes your place, all payments will be returned (less a $75 administration fee). If no replacement is available, 0% of the cost will be refunded.

Cancellation on/after July 1, 2023: No refund will be given.

All requests for cancellation must be submitted in writing to the ISO trip leader. If the CMC cancels the trip, all monies deposited by a participant with the CMC for this trip will be refunded. The CMC and the ISO trip leader are not responsible for associated participant expenses such as gear purchased specifically for this trip or any travel costs incurred.
