This badge represents an individual has completed hikes that show their ability to successfully participate in Difficult hiking trips.
This badge can be used to help trip leaders assess member's abilities and prior hiking accomplishments. Due to these skills being perishable and changing based on fitness, wellness, and health, etc. there is a 2-year expiration on hiking skills badges. Anytime you complete a trip, your leader can assign a skills badge if you request it.
Advanced hiking skills encompass trips that are rated Difficult - over 15 miles OR over 3,500 feet of elevation gain.
As a leader, giving this badge means you assert the member has successfully completed Difficult hike(s).
