This badge represents an individual has completed hikes that show their ability to successfully participate in Challenging hiking trips.
This badge can be used to help trip leaders assess member's abilities and prior hiking accomplishments. Due to these skills being perishable and changing based on fitness, wellness, and health, etc. there is a 2-year expiration on hiking skills badges. Anytime you complete a trip, your leader can assign a skills badge if you request it.
Intermediate hiking skills encompass trips that are rated Challenging - 12 to 15 miles and up to 3,500 feet of elevation gain.
As a leader, giving this badge means you assert the member has successfully completed Challenging hike(s).
