Plan will be to pick up a wilderness camping or bivy permit on Thursday afternoon, then hike in to camp somewhere along the route. You will need winter camping gear for this. The climb will require belayed climbing on steep snow with multiple rock/ice technical sections. Participants should have technical multi-pitch ice and mixed climbing experience. We could climb as 2 teams of 3 if we have at least one other lead climber sign up. Alternate routes would be the Flying Dutchman or Dreamweaver couloirs based on snow/route conditions.
We will meet at the Wilderness Office near the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center in RMNP at 2 pm on Thursday or meet earlier en route to carpool.
Required Equipment
Technical ice climbing gear to include belay device, ice axe and tools, crampons, harness, helmet; winter camping gear; will likely use snowshoes for the approach.
