North Eolus
North Eolus (14,042') is a northern sub-peak of Mount Eolus, and not usually counted as a separate peak or as an official 14'er, since it has a topographic prominence of only 179.'
North Eolus (14,042') is a Class 3 climb, characterized by a steep, scenic south ridge route featuring significant exposure, solid rock, and panoramic views of neighboring 14'ers Windom and Sunlight. The peak offers close-up, dramatic views of Mount Eolus and the "Catwalk," a narrow ridge between the two summits.
North Eolus often is climbed in combination with other 14'ers in the Chicago Basin of the Weminuche Wilderness. See Wilderness rules, permits, and restrictions.
