More Event Details
Join us ahead of the films for a Happy Hour & Gear Sale starting at 5pm hosted by Out & Back along with tables from our non-profit partners and CMC schools and courses, as well a bacountry preparedness clinic based on Rocky Talkie's Community Channels supported by Beacon Guidebooks. We'll have door prizes as well as raffle items with tickets available for purchase. Light snacks will be available for purchase and we'll be selling a variety of Sierra Nevada alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. There is an option to just buy tickets for the Gear Sale and not attend the films.
All proceeds from this event support Colorado Mountain Club’s Snow Rangers Program within our Conservation Department. CMC Snow Ranger program supports the U.S. Forest Service in patrolling, visitor education, user counts, partnership development and more. Professional Snow Rangers engage with backcountry users from December through April with a goal of mitigating environmental impacts and user conflict in high-use and remote winter recreation areas.

Schedule of events:
  • 5pm: Doors open for Happy Hour & Gear Sale
  • 5:30-6:30pm: Clinics start (run every 15min)
  • 7-9pm: Film screening with intermission
Backcountry Film Festival celebrates the heart of human-powered adventure and the people who make it possible. In a time when our public lands face mounting threats from funding cuts to industrial development, this festival reminds us what we’re fighting for: wild winters, deep snow, and vibrant mountain communities.
