He co-founded and is current director of the Colorado Mountain Club Hiking Safety Seminars. In his decades of wilderness hiking and climbing around the world, he has been attacked by predators, confronted twolegged dangers, experienced the fear of being lost, and been caught in lightning storms, blizzards, forest fires, avalanches, and flash floods. Dr. Hogling has embraced and learned from it all, combining it with technical research to produce popular hiking safety classes and curriculums.
