Her Place on the Map
Her Place on the Map Did you ever wonder about the women for whom some of our favorite places are named? What’s the story behind Lady Washington or Agnes or Lady Moon? It’s something local author Sarah Hahn Campbell was curious about and based on her research she recently published, A Place on the Map. For September’s program, Sarah will share with us the history behind these and other amazing women and the places named after them. https://www.cmc.org/groups-sections/front-range-groups/northern-colorado/calendar-of-events-trips-and-courses/her-place-on-the-map https://www.cmc.org/groups-sections/front-range-groups/northern-colorado/calendar-of-events-trips-and-courses/her-place-on-the-map/@@download/image/Colorado's Women and the Wild Places Named for Them.png

Join writer, researcher and hiker Sarah Hahn Campbell as she visits 18 Colorado mountains, lakes, and trails in her quest to better understand them and the women for which they were named. Each chapter includes a trail description and a historical investigation. Learn why neither Lady Moon nor Lady Washington were ladylike, discover the stories of intrepid pioneers like Agnes and Hessie, and honor historical fixtures like Clara Brown and Mestaa’hehe. This book invites you to hear new stories and to hike new trails.

Copies of Sarah's book can be purchased at the event, Wolverine Farm, Old Firehouse, and Makerfolk.
