Alpine Scrambling is defined as unroped climbing over mountainous terrain.  The CMC Denver Group and Pikes Peak Group currently offer this exciting course.

March:

  • March 1, 2023 - Application Process begins (Note: Class has filled quickly in the past, sometimes by mid-March)

April:

  • Student Welcome Letters will be sent via email
  • Waitlisted students will be informed of their status

May:

  • May 1, 2023 – Google Classroom self-study materials open
  • May 4, 2023 – Online Student Lecture #1 (via Zoom)
  • May 11, 2023 – Online Student Lecture #2 (via Zoom)
  • May 22, 2023 – in person Meet Up
  • May 5, 6, or 7 - Snow Travel Clinic options - students must be able to attend one of these dates

June/July:

  • June 3 & 4 – Field Day 1: Student Skills Field Day options - students must be able to attend one of these dates
  • Field days are progressive and held in June and July … check CMC calendar (students must complete classroom self-study and both field days prior to joining any of the Scrambles)

Rock Scrambling is the first course in the Pikes Peak Group’s Basic Mountaineering School (BMS) curriculum
